Category Manager

The role of the Category Manager is to manage the supplier selection and performance, ensure the correct product mix is established and the overall category performance is at an optimal level to achieve the company vision and successfully implement the Greatness Blueprint. The Category Manager will effectively communicate the company vision and strategy throughout the department and lead, inspire, coach and support reporting staff to successfully implement the Greatness Blueprint.

EXPECTATIONS                                                     

Supplier selection, negotiations & performance

  • Ensure supplier agreements terms and arrangements comply to Morsco quality standards, price and delivery expectations
  • Ensure thorough preparation and execution of supplier review meetings
  • Develop procedures to supplier effective supplier management arrangements
  • Negotiate within parameters, appropriate trading terms for the effective and efficient supply of products/materials as approved/directed by scheduled forecast plans
  • Manage and monitor supplier performance
  • Manage the supplier relationship with Morsco
  • Ensure that Morsco has the correct supplier mix to enable market competitiveness
  • Ensure we are purchasing at prices that enable to compete& make a fair profit
  • Manage share of suppliers spend
  • Ensure all negotiations comply to Morsco standards / operating procedures

Category & product mix management

  • Ensure Morsco is dealing with the most appropriate supplier(s) in each product category
  • Manage multiple sourcing in particular for high volume products
  • Ensure we have the product mix to meet customer demand
  • Manage the paradox of choice to optimise the product portfolio
  • Manage Individual product pricing to ensure Morsco remains competitive

VAP & New Product Development

  • Develop procurement plans which will enable the efficient supply of finished products/materials to meet forecasts and business demands
  • Ensure all products sourced meets Morsco quality specifications/standards

MEASUREMENTS

  • Category Sales
  • Category Margin
  • Category Growth  
  • Reducing Total Inventory Days
  • Reducing Amount of Slow and Obsolete Stock
